Auric landed upon the ledge to a darkened cave perched mid way upon the mountain, completing a graceful drop into a crouching position. Large iridescent wings partly encircled his lithe anthropomorphic body. He was a dragon, young, probably not even fifteen, or twenty in human years. He was average for his size, nearly reaching six feet but not quite yet. A loose black T-shirt and equally black shorts covered little of his scales, which were a brilliant gold; but they still hadn't acquired the chatoyant sheen and diamond-like hardness that came little after a dragon's twenty fifth hatch-day. Two silvern horns adorned his head, curling back barely nine inches behind it.
His head swiveled on his long sinuous neck as he looked around tensely, like a thief about to strike as he stayed low to the rock. His eyes seemed black in the darkness for his slitted pupils were dilated nearly all the way, so only a small circle of blue-grey iris remai...
