Chapter 1



"The local, land-dwelling sentients are celebrating an odd festival they call 'Halloween' and will never know the difference. What could go wrong?"

"Indeed," the Sinari thought to herself as she paced the floor, swishing her black tail in annoyance while wondering, not for the last time, why she'd taken the stupid bet anyway. Earth was a forbidden location for all citizens of the Orion Arm and the punishments for unlicensed beings caught on-planet were severe. Rampant and violent xenophobia among the dominant natives also contributed to the galactic quarantine of the world, as for many, the trip to Earth had been tragically one-way. As a young species, the "humans" (as they called themselves) had been deemed unfit for official first contact yet.

Unofficially, though, it was a different story. The human celebration of Halloween had provided ample opportunity for intragalactic thrill seekers to walk undetected amongst the human...
