I’m Steve, and I think I’m the last of my kind: Human. I remember what happened. I volunteered for a cryogenic experiment. I would sleep for a week then wake up and explain any symptoms. I remember entering the chamber, then soon after, hearing frantic screams. “It’s malfunctioning! Get him out! Get him the fuck out!” Then, “No! He could die if we let him out early, we couldn’t fix that part!” “He could be there for yea-!” Then nothing.
Well, low and behold, being frozen for maybe thousands of years wasn’t my worst decision. I mean it only seemed to be a few minutes, but it was the best, most relaxing nap I’ve ever taken. But I was surprised to wake up and see…nothing. I was in a different building, I could tell that much. But I didn’t want to be in there anymore.
