Miko

Miko had what most would consider a traumatic childhood, though any time he speaks of it he speaks lightly. People have it worse - rape, broken bones... who is he to speak so of his own childhood when it didn't leave him with anything but emotional scarring.

 His parents weren't in love, even in the beginning. He was born six months after their wedding, clearly showing the real reasons. They had a second child not but a year and a half later, a little sister for him. It wasn't meant to be that way though - she passed away after four months. His parents grieved by blaming him, asking why he did nothing to alert them, to help her. It took another six years before they finally couldn't stay together anymore and they seperated. Miko was asked by his father to come with him, but he couldn't. His father was a drunkard and never around, he didn't want that. "I wish it had been you and not your sister..." was his only reply.

His mother took her new freedom and uprooted them both from his home he had known. She spent her time working and with other men, leaving Miko to raise himself. He did a decent job on his own, learning to cook and fend for himself well, but always being forced to learn how to take care of his own emotional issues alone. It turned him into an introvert, turning to himself alone any time he hurt.

Even considering all of this, he still feels his life came out well. He was working as a research student and working towards being a useful person to the world. His work under Fang had already helped advance his research by leaps and bounds, giving him his first sense of true worth in the world.
