Zoey had a pretty normal childhood. Mom, Dad, older brother, younger brother, step-sister, step-Mom. Accustomed to the divorce, her parents were still amicable, still on good terms. Though, Zoey grew up predominantly with her Father and Step-Mom, she saw her Mother every few weeks and during the Holidays or birthdays. 

Despite hopes from both her Dad and S-Mom, (And even secretly her own) Zoey could never see eye to eye with her new sibling, Ami. Shacked in a room with the other girl, small conflicts broke out between them. Presents, attention, love from their Mother sought after greedily by the girl (Ami). 

Ami, unwilling to share her Mother with these new people resented the small ferret. Zoey, never willing to believe this continued to extend a hand of friendship and kindness to her. Continually rejected she did not get down about it. Instead, together in shared space they minded their own business save for the occasional quarrels.  

Loved by her new Mother, Zoey was happy.  Competent and able, the girl went on to her first year of college.
