Astraea, or Arty as she's most well known, is an orphaned young woman posing as a man. Young Astraea witnessed the murder of her family, her fathers brutal death as he was tortured, and her mothers rape before her life too was put to an end. How her elder brother tried to fight, concealing well the place he hid the lynx before he to was cold-bloodedly killed.

With her family murdered by bandits she had to take to fending for herself at the age of nine. Rather then fall victim and prey to cutthroats and the like she dressed as a young boy. Disguising her gender after an ill encounter so it couldn't be used against her, the little lynx excelled at swordsmanship and thievery. It wasn't long before Arty started picking up odd jobs (not to mention pockets), from herding, delivery service, on up.

Eventually guarding caravans and escorting traders between the villages and cities. She, or rather he to the masses, was a natural hired guard and mercenary. Relying more heavily on her skills to kill and guard then steal to get by.

Astraea finds little in life worth pursuing, financial gain and a steady income however are things she sees as necessary.  This doesn't mean she doesn't have other interests just that she's cold at first knowledge.

The defiling or virtue, rape, anyone stupid enough to lay their hands on her, people who know her secret, and those who ask to many questions.

Arty is a rather aloof young man. Slow to anger but quick to interest for the right price. he has a secret soft spot for women in need and young girls suffering but otherwise seems disinterested with the world around him. This really isn't the case but you have to dig deeper to know the lynx beneath.
