About
Simon is a professor of meta-magical theory at the college where Theressa Euler works as the librarian. His studies focus on the concepts of other planes of existence, their nature, and how they can intersect with the 'real' world. His doctoral thesis speculated on the scant evidence of ancient civilizations, greatly predating the emergence of modern furs, supposing some great magical catastrophe may have drawn them to another plane, and that they may still live, possibly as the strange spirits sometimes encountered by summoners. He points to structural changes in the rock strata surrounding the few known excavations of such sites that seem to indicate exposure to tremendous magical energy, possibly even a city sized portal. His work, while read and subjected to the scrutiny of his peers, did not garner much attention until recent events, with portals persisting longer than previously thought possible started spilling out horrors across the globe. This semester he was mentoring two doctoral candidates, one of whom was researching the theoretical possibility of using paired summoning portals to travel great distances across the globe, via some otherworldly plane. The second was attempting to use magical and technical probing methods to study the physical laws of the world on the other side of summoning portals, without much luck thus far, leaving the student frantically scrambling for material in the library, hoping to salvage any chance of successfully defending his thesis.
