Malcolm was born in a small fishing town on the eastern coast of Canada, he spent his childhood on a farm, herding the animals and harvesting crops. Through his teen years he helped out on fishing vessels, hauling in large fish counts and lobster traps. At the age of twenty three he bought himself a trawler, taking the fishing business into his own hands. At twenty five he began to take on extra cargo, smuggling goods across the coast for a hefty price.
