Ashira doesn't like to talk about her past, but it goes thusly:

At an early age, her family was torn apart by her father's inability to remain faithful to her mother.  Ashira was dumped at a boarding school for "proper young ladies" and essentially abandoned until she reached the age where the school would no longer board her.  Deciding that anything was better than her miserable existence being shuttled from one parent to the other, she finagled her way into another flight and left her constantly feuding parents behind.  She picked up a smattering of skills, making her into a jack of all trades.  There isn't a steam system she can't handle, or improve for that matter.

Technology of any sort, especially weapon technology.  Her conflict-laden background has turned Ashira into quite the little warmonger.  She also loves good food and isn't averse to an evening spent getting sloshed.

She will, once she's feeling relaxed, flirt with nearly anything.  Don't think that's an invitation, though.  It's mostly to fluster people.

Arrogant people (even though she's kind of arrogant herself), blatant stupidity, intentional stupidity, stupidity in general, unreliable mechanisms, bad food.

Ashira dresses fancifully, with rich fabrics and delicate embroidered details. She switches between dresses and pants on a whim, but in either style, her clothes are always very rich. Her shoulders and the swell of her hips bear a sprinkling of black spots rather like a cheetah's and there is a small strip of pale yellow running down her spine. Her black hair is usually cut short and heavily styled.
