Yanna grew up in South Africa in a neighborhood just outside Johannesburg. He lived there with his family for the first part of his life, leaving his family and the city behind when he turned 16.

Yanna enjoys reading and writing, but above all he enjoys traveling and experiencing new things. Despite being a literary person, his opinion is that things are better learned firsthand and experientially.

Yanna is an avid pacifist, and hates to see violence resorted to in the world around him. Regardless, he often had to put these views to the side as he grew up in the violent crime-filled suburbs in which he was raised.

Yanna speaks with a moderately heavy South African accent (which has similar qualities to an Australian accent). He usually wears a long, dark, woolen trench coat over a collared button-down shirt, and dark trousers. He usually sports a pair of round-lensed spectacles on his face. Around his neck on a chain he wears a flat, three-pronged piece of steel spike with dulled edges, as a reminder of what he left behind...
