Background:

As a child, Ginji grew up in the small city of Nutmeg, not far from Mobotropolis. Soon after he turned eight, Roobotnik (Then known as the warlord Julian) launched his takeover of Mobotropolis, and Nutmeg was promptly evacuated. In the pandemonium, Ginji was separated from his parents and wandered into the Great Forest. He was soon found and brought to Knothole village by one of the original Freedom Fighters. [sonic.wikia.com] 

Since then, he trained day in and day out to fight Robotnik's tyranny. Ten years passed, and Ginji was captured and roboticized on a routine scouting mission. The next thing he remembered after that was walking through the Great Forest. (Later, he would learn that he was part of a squad of Robians dispatched to try and find Knothole; an was deroboticized as part of the Bem's [sonic.wikia.com] mass deroboticization of Mobius.) At the time, though, he was more interested in the new ability he'd began manifesting after being deroboticized. He had started crackling with electricity, and realized he could now turn into and manipulate electrical energy. Instantly, he grasped upon the opportunity and honed his new skill in the forest; knowing the ability would be useful in the fight against Eggman. 

Nearly a year later, Ginji emerged from the Great Forest and was pleasantly surprised to see a sparkling new Mobian city (New Mobotropolis). Used to life in the forest, he asked New Mobotropolis's resident AI, Nicole, to build a tree house for him on the city outskirts. Unfortunately, soon after Ginji arrived, the Iron Dominion took over the city. Using his new powers, he was able to avoid detection and save some other Mobians. Near the end of the occupation, Ginji got cornered near Uncle Chuck's Chili Dogs by Yagyu ninjas. Fortunately, the Yagyu just received word that their ties to the Bride of Four Houses had been dissolved, and they left him alone. 

This was not the end of New Mobotropolis's misfortunes. Soon after the Iron Dominion was defeated, Ixis Naugus returned (courtesy of the backstabber Geoffrey St. John), and attempted to take the crown from the rightful ruler, King Elias Acorn. As if that wasn't enough, Eggman attacked the city with his Death Egg Mark II! Infuriated by Naugus usurping the throne and what New Mobotropolis ha just gonr through (Iron Dominion occupation), Ginji recklessy attached the flying fortress. Using his new ability, he was able to board the Death Egg via its Power Ring matrix. Soon after he got about, he experienced momentary disorientation, due to the Cosmic Reset Button. After that passed, Ginji was able to find and steal partial schematics for Robotnik's roboticizer. Before he could find more, he was KO'ed and thrown out of the Death Egg by the implosion of its World Roboticizer. 

When he came to on the ground outside the city, Ginji quickly made his way back. When he arrived, he was dismayed to find that although the Death Egg had been driven off, Princess Sally had been roboticized! Then came the news that the citizens of New Mobotropolis wanted Naugus as ruler, not Elias. With that, Ginji snapped. He left the city, and currently lives in the woods behind Freedom HQ.
