You woke up in a hospital in Germany. Sitting next to you was a middle aged man who seemed familiar, but you could not remember him. He told you to just relax, he was and old friend and mentor. He told you to just call him Doc.
Doc went on to explain that you were a mission in Afghanistan rescuing the crew of a downed Blackhawk when you were ambushed by a large number of Taliban Fighters. You managed to get the aircrew onboard you CH-47 and start to head out when an RPG hit the back of it. Ignoring your wounds you pulled the rear gunner free, and saving his life, but you had taken grievous wounds from the explosion including some that burned all the way through your legs.
You went to a navy hospital ship were there was discussions about removing one of your legs because of the extreme burns that you took. You told them to try to save them. They sent you to Germany on a C-130 with some other badly wounded. During the flight a marine started to go into shock, you against the will of the Flight Surgeon you got up and gave assistance.
When you got to Germany 12 hours later you were taken into surgery, you actions caused sever damage to your legs. Looking at the situation you told them to use the Slice Option if needed. That is were you found your self. Apparently you aggravated a piece of shrapnel that shifted a created a blood clot; that during surgery broke loose and moved through the heart and to the brain causing a stroke. This is when they opted for the Splice Option.
You don’t remember much before, but sometimes you get a flood of memories seeing Trauma Centers. Your superiors seeing this have sent you to some physiological Doctors, but they have only helped a little. After a few months they decided that you were no longer fit for normal combat duties.
Once more Doc was there, he introduced you to General Mathers. General Mathers ask if you wanted the Join the NEST Teams, a small Special Operations type unit. At most they went out in platoon sized operations, normally only a squad. This meant you would still do what you did, but entering a Trauma Center was drastically reduced.
This would let you stay on an active duty roster, but you were unsure about it. General Mathers suggested that you take some time to think about it. He also gave you another option. Change yourself to Reserves Status and he would hook you up with a UNIT Team. This would keep you busy and make you readily available for NEST Missions if needed.
